AM I COVERED?

Happy Good Friday!

I was chatting with one of my clients and he asked a question I hear often enough to post it on my blog…
“If I let someone else drive my car, how am I covered if they have an accident? And I drive someone else’s car am I covered for that too?”

The question was regarding his personal auto policy.

When you allow someone else  to drive your car, they are covered by YOUR auto insurance…even if they have their own policy.
If they get in to an accident driving your car, YOUR auto policy will be primary.   The same applies if you drive someone else’s car. If they have a current auto policy and you drive their car with their consent, THEIR auto policy covers you if you get in to an accident.
The moral of the story-be careful of who you let drive your car!  And if YOU have questions, be sure to speak to your independent insurance agent.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the sun!
